Video abstraction and analysis for DOF Subsea
Abstracting weeks of video footage to simple images.
Subsea pipeline inspection is done by filming long stretches of pipe using ROVs. Manual inspection is performed in order to detect where potential damage or change has occurred. We implemented proof of concept algorithms to reduce these long videos into images where the operator inspects the pipe in “meters” rather than seconds. Following up on this algorithm is image processing work to automatically detect areas of interest.
