Helping the kiters getting the data
350 kiters will in a mass start, compete on the plains of the Hardangervidda this week. CMR will measure the wind conditions during this race using our lidars.
Lidar systems used in offshore wind parks will this week be used on the plains of Hardangervidda helping the kiters measure the wind during the Red Bull Ragnarok. Photo: CMR
The race format will be a mass start, where each participant must complete five full laps of the chosen course (one lap = 15-20km) using only their kite, and either skis or snowboard. The event sponsor Statkraft has asked CMR to help them monitore the wind conditions. We will participate with researchers mending the instruments. The results will be given directly here on our own webpage.
The Measurement Campaign is managed by CMR through NORCOWE.
